Flat Eric
------------
I've always wanted to see this music video. My boy Clik had the Flat Eric puppet (some kind of promo with GAP maybe? ... I can't quite remember [*update: it was Levi's..]) and always alluded to how funny the video was. I myself have barely ever had cable T.V. throughout my lifetime and could only catch glimpses of all the wonderfully mind numbing programming available there from time to time. Now with the awesome power of the internet I too can numb my brain to the fullest extent.

Without further ado, here's Eric:

Cut & Paste 2007
------------
Shoulda posted this earlier this week when it was originally posted on the Novem Life site, but better late than never, right?
------------

So, as some of you may know already, I was privileged and excited to not only take part in the 2006 Cut & Paste live design tournament, but to win it as well. The tournament pitted me against some HOT designers and just barely made it out on top. To tell you the truth, I thought my stuff wasn't so hot, even from back in the preliminaries, and I thought for sure all through the event that i'd get taken out by one or another contestant...those guys are all so dope.

The event is the only one of its kind around and is still in its infancy. But this kid is blowin' up, yo! The Cut & Paste tournament has gone from just an NYC event the first year in 2005, to four cities nationwide last year and now on to 11 (that's right, e-l-e-v-e-n) cities WORLDWIDE this year adding Tokyo, London, Hong Kong, Berlin, Sydney, Portland, and Boston to the list of the already established LA, SF, CHI and NYC events. So now (and here's my ulterior motive) almost ANYONE can get down and battle. YOU can show off you're skills to the whole world.

But you have to signup by July 17th. ...not too far away, so now is the time. Get off them laurels and kick up them heels, y'all.

Bring that heat, playuh!!!

"My shoes hurt..."
------------
So, here's my new site. You'll notice it's lacking some work. well, I'm tired and can't stand any more work right now, so if you'd like to see some more pretty pictures you can check my last site here.

Oy.
------------
Ok, there's plenty of stuff I should update y'all on, like another Cut&Paste event at the HOW Design Conference this June, or the Novem Life project, but honestly I'm up to my neck in work and have no time, but I do want to post something here. This is for the search engines and those who share this problem I ran across:

The system font sydnie (pretty sure its file name is sydnie.ttf, but it doesn't even show up in a file search) is a font installed on your computer with Quicktime and, for some strange reason, does not appear for use unless you are running Quicktime. So in order to use the font in, say, Adobe Illustrator, you must turn on Quicktime. At least in Windows. Maybe I'll check it on my Mac later...

Big Thangs.
------------
Novem. Life. Literally.
Big release party on March 9th to showcase our new Spring Line of t-shirts. + I'm re-designing our website and started work on a couple new sites for a couple of fellow artists - my guy Esho and Ms. Sahyley Hernandez. No rest for the weary.

And tomorrow night (Valentine's Night) you're all invited to come out to Subterranean to watch me crank out a live design and watch Haiku's new music video. More info here.

Happy New Year.
------------
Busy with work at Mess and Novem Spring '07 Line. Can't talk now - working.

Blargh.
------------
Ok. Lotta stuff goin' on...
Finally got my own dot.com - designerbyfate.com, got a job (so I'm now pullin' the double shifts on the regular), and got an update to my portfolio section that's still in progress. should be finished after work tonight.

Chris Silva's movin outta town soon (to P.R. I believe) and he's havin' a going-away party on Dec. 15th.

Also on the 15th of December, my fellow competitor in the Chicago Cut and Paste comp., Jordan Polonsky, is throwing a release party to show his new toys at Rotofugi here in Chicago.

Also ALSO on the fifteenth of December is the public unveiling of the Spring Street project - this crazy team-up of Wooster Collective and some NYC building owners to get some really cool street artists from around the world to install art in and on a building in NYC known as a hotspot for street art. Check the Dec. 3rd entry on the Wooster Collective site.

I really should update this section more often than once a month. So much goin' on.
Blah. Argh. Blargh.

I voted today, did you?
------------
You know how politicians are corrupt as hell and don't really back us up as free American citizens? Because as American citizens, we freely allow them the feeling that they can do whatever they want because, by not voting, we are in effect telling them that we do not care. By getting out there and voting in large numbers, we force these politicians to focus on ALL the issues at hand and not just the few issues that matter to the people that actually vote. And if they would have to pay attention to all and not just some of the issues, they'd be too busy trying to please us to stay in office and not have as much time to try and scheme on a profit. Just my 2 cents.

Cut and Paste: Update x2
------------
Much thanks to the Cut and Paste crew, the judges (towards the bottom of the page), the sound and audio crews, Crobar Chicago , and all the sponsors. The competitition was stiff and I'm seriously privelaged to have come out on top. And my next move? Why world domination, of course.

Pictures by Escalante should be coming soon.

Cut and Paste: Update
------------
I'm in like Flynn!!! I'll be competing alongside 7 other talented Chicago designers at the event, Saturday, Nov. 4th at Crobar with an after party elsewhere. Purchase tickets in advance to save yourself $5 and be entered in a raffle for a free Puma bike.
